Security
Please allow 30 minutes for a security screening to enter the NCI Shady Grove campus. All visitors must sign in at the guard desk and submit to a security inspection. You will need a government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport. Visitors will be required to pass through a metal detector and have bags, backpacks or purses inspected or x-rayed as they enter the building. A representative from the conference will help you sign in at the guard desk and will escort you to the meeting room.
Attention: Visitors who are not NIH Badge Holders, U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents with a green card must submit documentation of a U.S. Visa or Visa Waiver Program at least 10 business days prior to their visit to the NCI facility. Kindly complete the NIH Visit Request Submission Form and refer to the accompanying instructions. Please be advised that failure to submit the required form at least 10 business days before your scheduled arrival may result in denial of entry to the NCI campus.

A block of rooms has been reserved specifically for the 2023 Annual Meeting of the NCI Cohort Consortium attendees at the Courtyard Gaithersburg Washingtonian Center, located at 204 Boardwalk Place, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. The hotel room cutoff date was Tuesday, September 12, 2023. We cannot guarantee any rooms past this date. All rooms within the room block are first come, first serve, and subject to availability. By Metrorail: Travel time is estimated at 60 minutes. Take Metrorail from the airport to the Shady Grove Metro station. Transfer from the Yellow to Red Line at Gallery Place and exit at Shady Grove. Metrorail hours of service varies by day.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
By Car or Taxi: Drive time is estimated at 50 minutes (40 miles) to NCI Shady Grove, depending on traffic.
By MTA Route 201 Bus: Travel time is estimated at 80 minutes. Coach bus from BWI to Shady Grove Metro station. At BWI the bus stops near Concourses A (Southwest Airlines) and E (International terminal). See daily time timetables as hours of service varies by day.
Dulles International Airport (IAD)
By Car or Taxi: Drive time is estimated at 60 minutes (40 miles) to NCI Shady Grove, depending on traffic.
By Metrorail: Travel time is estimated at 110 minutes. Take Metrorail from the airport towards Largo. Transfer from the Silver to Red Line at Farragut West and exit at Shady Grove. Metrorail hours of service varies by day.
Transportation
NCI Visitor Parking
Visitors to NCI Shady Grove should park in the NCI Shady Grove garage, which is directly across from the campus building. Visitor parking tickets can be validated at the guard station in the lobby after a visitor has signed in.
Shuttle Service and Ride Shares
If arranging for a ride share service (Uber, Lyft, Taxi, etc) please use the NCI Shady Grove address listed above. Shuttles service from the Courtyard Gaithersburg Washingtonian Center will be scheduled for the following dates and times:
October 11
Annual Meeting times: 1:30pm to 5:00pm
Shuttle pick-up times at Hotel: 12:00pm and 12:30pm
Shuttle pick-up time at NCI: 5:30pm
October 12
Annual Meeting times: 10:00am to 3:00pm
Shuttle pick-up times at Hotel: 9:00am and 9:30am
Shuttle pick-up time at NCI: 3:30pm
By Metro
Metrorail service is available from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Dulles International Airport, and Union Station (railway). To get to NCI Shady Grove, take the Washington, DC Metro Red line to the Shady Grove stop (terminal station). Exit the Metro station on the "Kiss & Ride" side and look for signs for the NCI Shady Grove shuttle. The shuttle runs throughout the day and drops off in front of the NCI building. Alternatively: you may choose to take the Metro Red line to the Medical Center stop at the NIH main campus, and then take the NIH Express Shuttle from Building 31 to NCI Shady Grove.
