DCP Early Career Scientist Spotlight Research Seminar Series

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP) has created the DCP Early Career Scientist Spotlight Research Seminar Series to highlight nominated early career scientists who are advancing research within the areas supported by DCP. The overall goal of this ongoing seminar series is to increase visibility and provide recognition to these DCP Early Career Scientists.

Annual HIV DRP Think Tank Meeting

The HIV Dynamics and Replication Program (HIV DRP), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), will hold their 29th Annual DRP Think Tank Meeting, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. This meeting will consist of a series of short (15 minutes or less) presentations by members of the local virology community on topics related to HIV, AIDS, retrovirus biology, and cancer virology.

Tumor-Draining Lymph Nodes: Gaps and Opportunities Forum Series

This initiative will convene a monthly virtual forum series bringing together leading experts in lymph node biology, immunology, and cancer—from experimental scientists and clinicians to computational and in silico modelers—in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. 

2026 Staff Scientists and Staff Clinicians Outstanding Mentor Award

Fueling Cancer Progression by the Nervous System

The Fueling Cancer Progression by the Nervous System series will feature six webinars, each exploring the junction between neuroscience and cancer biology to advance our understanding of cancer spread and metastatic colonization. Deciphering the interactions between the nervous system, cancer cells, and the host microenvironment brings key insights into molecular mechanisms of cancer progression and informs new treatment approaches.

Translating Emerging Cancer Diagnostics and Technologies toward Clinical Impact Meeting

NCI’s Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) is hosting a two-day virtual workshop focused on accelerating innovative cancer diagnostics and technology platforms from discovery to clinical application. The program brings together senior and early-stage investigators from academia and industry, highlights NCI-supported case studies, and showcases NCI funding and commercialization pathways within the broader NCI innovation ecosystem.

SCLC Consortium Meeting

This hybrid meeting will host national and international experts in the dynamic field of SCLC research. It will cover the most recent developments in SCLC biology, models, tumor heterogeneity and plasticity, immunology and immunotherapy, new therapy targets, and treatment resistance. The sessions will aim to develop collaborative approaches to address key questions in the field and define promising scientific areas.

NCI Program Staff and patient advocates with an interest in SCLC are also invited guests. We hope this venue will enable data sharing with the intent to offer many new collaborative opportunities within the SCLC community.

26th Annual CCR Fellows and Young Investigators Colloquium

In 2026, we are celebrating the 26th Annual CCR Fellows and Young Investigators Colloquium, a two-day event held at the NCI Shady Grove Campus (9609 Medical Center Drive in Rockville, MD).

We are offering keynote addresses from research speakers, a survivorship speaker, the Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow (OPF) awardee, and CCR leadership. Importantly, we highlight the research by CCR fellows, giving opportunities for oral and poster presentations. For career development, we host a variety of panels and workshops by experts from different fields. The Colloquium will be held on May 14–15, 2026, and is open to all NCI fellows and trainees.

Science-Based Non-Academic Careers

As fellows and staff scientists at the National Cancer Institute, many of you will be exploring and choosing from various science-based career options in the future. The Office of Training and Education (OTE) in the Center for Cancer Training (CCT) is hosting weekly workshops to help participants learn about the various career opportunities that lie outside of independent academic research. Given these may include unfamiliar roles outside of traditional bench science, we have guest speakers from various science-based backgrounds to provide information and insight that will help inform decisions about potential future endeavors. Reversing Carcinogenesis for Cancer Prevention

A virtual workshop hosted by the National Cancer Institute’s Divisions of Cancer Prevention and Cancer Biology focused on advancing strategies to reverse carcinogenesis for cancer prevention. The event brings together experts to identify key challenges, explore research priorities, and develop strategic approaches, with discussions spanning biological mechanisms, the role of the microenvironment and microbiome, systems biology approaches, and emerging interventions and biomarkers.

NCI/NIBIB SynBio & Cancer Series: Advances and Aspirations

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) collaboratively launched the Synthetic Biology and Cancer Program in 2021. The goal of the program was to support synthetic biology approaches for cancer research that would expand technology development, promote transdisciplinary partnerships, spur new efforts to advance mechanistic understanding of cancer, and create new possibilities for cancer prevention and management. After five years of progress, the teams will share their discoveries with the broader research community. The Synthetic Biology and Cancer: Progress and Promise Webinar Series invites you to learn about the exciting technical advances in synthetic biology and how they have accelerated cancer research, and explore future directions. The series will occur monthly from June to November 2026.

Global Cancer Research and Control Seminar Series

The NCI Center for Global Health’s Global Cancer Research and Control Seminar Series (GCRCSS) features talks by researchers and cancer control experts working in global oncology. The seminars provide opportunities for discussion and collaboration around impactful and innovative work that addresses cancer morbidity and mortality worldwide. 

Summer Omics Nursing Institute

The Summer Omics Nursing Institute will equip nurses with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to develop robust programs of research in symptom science that incorporate molecular omics. Participants will expand their understanding of molecular omic concepts and methods for application in research, teaching, and clinical practice, and will gain the ability to apply these approaches in biobehavioral research. The program will also examine strategies and emerging trends in omic-based therapies and molecular therapeutics, while building critical skills to evaluate the strengths, limitations, and appropriate applications of omic testing, including potential sources of inaccuracy when used in symptom science.

NCI Data Jamboree

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites you to participate in the 2026 NCI Data Jamboree: Enhancing Data Sharing and Utility to Advance Cancer Research on November 16-18 at the NIH Neuroscience Building in Rockville, Maryland. The overarching goal is to promote data sharing and use, facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations, and engage and expand the size and scientific diversity of the cancer research community.

DCEG/REB Radiation Epidemiology & Dosimetry Course

The Radiation Epidemiology and Dosimetry Course is conducted periodically by the Radiation Epidemiology Branch of the NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG). This course is intended for people who are interested in learning about the health effects of radiation exposure (environmental, occupational, and medical)—particularly the relationship between ionizing radiation and cancer
