Affordable Cancer Technologies Principal Investigators Meeting

Cancer Detection, Diagnosis, and Treatment Technologies for Global Health (UH2/UH3)
May 23-24, 2019

On behalf of the NCI Center for Global Health, welcome to the 3rd Annual Affordable Cancer Technologies Principal Investigators Meeting. This annual meeting is organized both to provide NCI program staff a chance to interact directly with PIs and receive an update on progress to date, as well as to provide an opportunity for interactions and exchanges of ideas amongst ACT grantee cohorts. As each grant award from the NCI is given with the hope that this investment will ultimately translate into reducing the global burden of cancer, we see this meeting as an important gathering to spark potentially transformative project collaborations, receive critical feedback from the scientific community, and foster the dissemination of the important work emerging from ACT-supported researchers.

This year, the meeting will feature project presentations by all investigator teams followed by panel discussions. A demonstration session for all investigators will allow teams to showcase their progress and innovative approaches to affordable technology development for cancer care in low-resource settings. Lastly, several roundtable breakout sessions will be held during lunch on the second day. We hope that these discussions engage all meeting attendees in the exploration of persistent challenges and emerging opportunities facing the field.

On behalf of the NCI program staff and everyone involved in the planning for this meeting, we thank you for your participation, your interest, and the important work you all do to assist in our collective mission against cancer. We look forward to an exciting and productive meeting.
