Meeting Theme: Collaboration toward Building Capacity for Multilevel SDOH Research and Community Engagement

The purpose is to convene an inaugural annual meeting in-person between the awarded ACCERT Center investigators and teams, NCI project scientists, community partners, and working group members.

The goals are to discuss priority components of the ACCERT consortium including 1) scientific methods and measurement of community engagement in cancer control; 2) multilevel methods and approaches in cancer prevention and control interventions; 3) science of social determinants of health and multilevel intervention designs; and 4) planning and evaluation of strategies towards sustainability through research and capacity building tools.

Panel 1: Power and Trust in Community Partner Capacity Building for Multilevel Research
This panel explores practical approaches to building and sustaining community partner capacity in multilevel research, with an emphasis on power and trust. Panelists will discuss strategies for fostering equitable partnerships, addressing historical and structural power imbalances, and supporting community partners’ leadership and decision-making roles across research phases. 

Lessons learned will highlight how trust-centered capacity building strengthens collaboration, research quality, and impacts.

Panel 2: Institutional Policy and Practice
This panel focuses on the institutional policies, infrastructure, and operational practices needed to support multilevel research. Panelists will discuss lessons learned and actionable approaches on how institutions can translate policy into practices, including data-sharing, IRB coordination, workforce support, and resource allocation across departments and partner organizations. 

The discussion will explore common barriers—such as siloed decision-making, misaligned incentives, and administrative burden—and highlight strategies for fostering collaboration across levels.
