Overview

The NCI will host the Small Cell Lung Cancer Research Consortium Annual Meeting in Bethesda, MD.  The SCLC Consortium was formed in response to the H.R. 733, the Recalcitrant Cancer Research of 2012, which called for the NCI to develop a scientific framework for research on recalcitrant cancers with a 5-year relative survival rate of less than 20%. The agenda features talks by Consortium-funded grantees as well as other leaders in the field. The Consortium has the following goals:

  • Better Research Tools for the Study of SCLC
  • Comprehensive Genomic Profiling of SCLC
  • New Diagnostic Approaches for SCLC
  • Therapeutic Development Efforts
  • Mechanisms Underlying Both High Rate of Initial Response and Rapid Emergence of Drug and Radiation Resistance
