If you do not have an NIH badge, you will need to enter the NIH Main Campus through the Gateway Center, located at 9000 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD. When you arrive, you will go through security, visitors will be required to show one (1) form of identification (a government-issued photo ID-driver's license, passport, green card, etc.) and to state the purpose of their visit. The name you provide to security must match your identification. Once through security, you then get on the NIH campus shuttle or walk to Building 45 (approx. 5 minute walk). Please leave ample time to pass through security, this can take up to an hour.
The NIH Gateway Center is located adjacent to the Medical Center Metro Station (Red Line) at the South Drive entrance to campus from Rockville Pike / Wisconsin Avenue (Route 355). In addition, the complex also includes MLP-11, a 342-space, multi-level underground parking garage. This visitor-only lot is the primary visitor parking for the NIH main campus. We strongly encourage all visitors to park in this garage as there will be limited visitor parking on campus, other than for patients and visitors to the Clinical Center. Vehicles parking in MLP-11 are outside of the perimeter security and will not go through vehicle inspection, reducing the amount of time it takes to get on campus. The cost to park in MLP-11 is $2 per hour for the first three hours, $12 maximum for the entire day. This is the same rate currently charged for all visitor parking at the NIH.

Hotel Accommodations
A block of rooms has been reserved at The Bethesdan Hotel located at 8120 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD. The room rate is $209/night plus taxes. To make a reservation, call 1-800-955-7359 and mention “NCI Meeting”, or click here to book a room online. You will be required to provide the hotel with a credit card for all charges. If you need to cancel your reservation, please do so at least 48 hours in advance to avoid a penalty of 1-night room and tax. The deadline to make a hotel reservation at the group rate is Friday, September 25, 2020.
The Bethesdan Hotel is conveniently located 0.7 miles from NIH Gateway Center, click here for walking directions. The hotel does provide a complimentary shuttle to NIH. Please check with the front desk at check-in for the schedule.
