NCI Rising Scholars: Cancer Research Seminar Series (Overview)

Overview

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) hosts the virtual NCI Rising Scholars: Cancer Research Seminar Series showcasing the research of early career cancer researchers supported by the NCI.

Across all NCI training programs, we aim to catalyze the development of a diverse workforce capable of advancing cancer research through a scientifically integrated approach. We accomplish this by providing research training and career development activities for scholars inside NCI’s research groups and by supporting funding opportunities for training in cancer research, career development, and research education. This monthly virtual seminar series is an opportunity to highlight the research and the important contributions made by NCI-supported postdoctoral scholars and early career investigators.

Speakers for the next year are selected by the NCI Center for Cancer Training, Cancer Training Branch in early December. We identify all first-author research articles that calendar year published by individuals who are postdoctoral scholars at the NCI and those who hold active NCI career development awards or postdoctoral fellowships and cite the NCI award in the article. The field citation rate and number of citations the article has received to date is taken into consideration. We aim to select research areas spanning the cancer continuum and a variety of cancer organ sites. Additionally, we aim to invite speakers from different geographical locations throughout the United States.

Please visit the Upcoming Webinars to view information about the speakers. It is free to attend the seminar series. Register for as many upcoming seminars as you’d like on the Registration page and you will receive an email with the link to the WebEx meeting for each seminar you select.
