Engaging Older Adults in the NCI Clinical Trials Network (Agenda)

Agenda

The accrual meeting will be held virtually on April 26-27, 2021 and is supported by Cancer MoonshotSM and coordinated by The NCI Division of Cancer Prevention in collaboration with the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis.

Objectives

  1. Identify modifiable barriers to the participation of older adult patients in cancer clinical trials, with an emphasis on reducing clinician bias, and develop actionable interventions to address barriers.
  2. Identify patient needs and concerns and develop and implement interventions to address those concerns.
  3. Build consensus around the best approach and measures to screen for fitness and frailty.
  4. Develop a broader research plan to guide the implementation of geriatric assessments in future NCI-supported clinical trials to address gaps in research.
