Gather: How does it work?
Gather is a 2D replica of real spaces chosen and designed by the event organizer. In an 8-bit pixelized world which look like a video game, each participant moves its avatar freely using the pointer arrows of the computer keyboard. When avatars approach one another, participants can talk to each other through a video call, launched automatically.
Right now, Gather is best supported in Chrome and Firefox on a desktop. Safari on desktop is in beta has limited support. You may also use Gather on your smart phone or tablet. Your experience may vary slightly based on your device's operating system and browser. Visit Gather's help page for more information on Gather Mobile.
For our virtual poster sessions, we created 6 interconnected spaces:
- A main conference hall where participants will automatically join.
- 5 poster halls organized by topic
- Room and poster number are listed alongside posters below.
- Refer to one of the information boards in the main hall to locate a poster.
- Symposium organizers will be at the help desk to answer any questions during the sessions.
